The Big Air is the most popular spectator
sport of the three events of the Verbier Ride.
The riders
will be competing to land the biggest and wildest jumps
they can. Visually, this is an awe-inspiring event,
showcasing the skill, courage and creativity of modern
skiers.
The crowds can expect to be treated to 1080 degree twists, multiple back flips, front flips,
off-axis rotations, spectacular somersaults and grabs
and an amazing 32metre distance jump. Otherwise known
to the core audience as Rodeos, Corks, Mistys, Lincons
and flat spins.........
The person who puts on the most explosive
display, whilst remaining in control (i.e. landing the
jump) wins the competition. Competitors are judged over
two jumps on difficulty, style and amplitude.
