Glion Sports Management School & The Verbier Ride

The Verbier Ride 2005 introduced a new partnership with the International Glion Sports Management School in Montreax, Switzerland. The 2006 Event with its new World Tour Status will prove an exciting challenge to the students of Glion Management School in their roles aiding the smooth running of the event.

About Glion:
Glion Sports Management School offers sports, leisure and event management programmes designed to prepare students to start a career at a supervisory level in the industry, including resorts, leisure complexes, sports facilities and sports events. The courses develop a broad understanding of the industry and its business, social and economic significance and develops supervisory level skills. At the same time students will develop an understanding of health, physiological and psychological characteristics which are relevant to the domain. Students develop generic thinking skills and where possible theory and practice are integrated to enhance learning. Students are able to progress to first employment or further study toward the bachelor degree to gain managerial skills in order to obtain higher management positions in the international sport, leisure and events industries.

The partnership with Glion and The Verbier Ride provided an excellent opportunity for the students to work directly on a well established, fast paced and exciting sports event. It gave them the prospect of being involved in the running of every asect of the event from the business element, to hands on working on the mountain with direct contact with internationally acclaimed athletes, to being involved in helping with the TV Production.

Name: Zafar Rashid Age: 19 Course: Sports Management Associate Degree Email: zafarrashid@gmail.com Institution: Glion Sports Management School, Glion, Switzerland I am a student at the Glion Sports School doing an Associate Degree in Sports Management, a two year full time course. The course comprising 4 semesters out of which three are academic based while the fourth one is practical based. I had the privilege to work at the Verbier Ride 2005, it was a wonderful experience for me and I would really like to return for next year's events if I have the time. I would like to thank Warren Smith and his team for helping us have such a good experience.
