Verbier is one of the Europe's most renowned ski destinations. It is one of Switzerland's youngest, purpose-built ski resorts and is also a popular summer destination for mountain sports, being so close to Geneva. As part of the 4-Valleys some 410km of pisted runs are on offer and a great deal more off-piste couloirs, walls and bowls.

For many years the resort has had an international and youngish
following keen for the demanding and lift-accessible off-piste areas and Verbier has the reputation of a great après-ski scene to boot. The village, with over 100 bars and restaurants, is a fashionable, informal and lively place that fills with a relaxed and cosmopolitan mix; couples, groups and families, young to old, and ski bums to the rich and famous.
The great many picturesque wooden chalets which cover the Verbier bowl give the resort an truely alpine feel, although most of these chalets are privately kept. Most accommodation is to be had in 1960-70s modern-style apartments, hotels and chalets, and indeed Verbier lays claim to have invented the 'chalet-girl'.
A while back a lack of investment in the lift-system saw a drop in popularity in the resort, although it is now on a big comeback - helped by hosting extreme skiing competitions such as the Verbier Ride, some serious financial backing, and a better exchange rate.
The skiing is an intermediates and advanceds endless playground, and beginners will quickly learn to find their way down the mountain. There is, of course, a good range of ski-schools, as well as some of Europe's top ski coaches, offering instruction to ease the way.
In the La Chaux area, Televerbier prepare and maintain one of the best European snowboard and free ride parks, with a permanent Skier/Boarder X run and a varied selection of hits, ramps, pipes and tabletops.
All-in-all, as one of the world's premier off-piste and extreme skiing/boarding resorts, Verbier has it all!
