2007, or any of their affiliated bodies or individuals, of any responsibility for any injury or loss or damage to myself or my

equipment whilst competing in the Verbier Ride events. I have my own comprehensive competition insurance and have previously competed in the disciplines I am now entering.

EVENT GUIDELINES + REGULATIONS

1. Participation

The Verbier Ride 07 is open to alpine and telemark skiers. The minimum age for the event is 18 unless agreed by the organising committee of the Verbier Ride. The contest is open to male and female riders. All riders must go through the registration process and receive confirmation before attending the event.

 

2. Registration

Riders must follow the exact inscription procedure. Inscription must be emailed to warrensmith@snowsportsynergy.com before February 4 th 2007. Start list will be announced on 10 th February, 7 days before the start of the event. Registration will take place on the web site www.verbierride.com from December 2006. Only persons whose name is listed on the www.verbierride.com website will be considered as duly registered on the 10 th Feb. If your name has been listed on the official start list your inscription from must be printed, signed and sent to the organising committee to arrive before 15 th February. Payment must be made in Verbier on February 17 th at the Riders Meeting. Payment must be made in cash as Euro's or Swiss Francs. Price of entry for Slope Style €30, Skier Cross €45.

 

3. Liability

The organising team is not liable for damages resulting from collisions or individual accidents. During their run, the competitors are fully responsible of themselves. They must, with their application form, provide a third party liability insurance and rescue insurance certificates, or a Carte Neige licence. Registration for the contest implies acceptance of the present guidelines and regulations.

 

4. Safety

The compulsory safety equipment for the competitors consists of: EC labeled ski helmet and a dorsal protection. The organising team is the only authorised body to evaluate the risks due to weather and snow conditions, and to take the relevant decisions, in co-ordination with the ski patrol team of Televerbier and the site manager in charge of the safety on the slopes of the contest.

5. Disqualification Criteria

- Dangerous behaviour putting at risk third parties or the competitor himself, left to the estimation of the jury and the organising team.

- Run of the skier outside the defined contest perimeter.

- Disregard of the present regulation and display of non-sportsmanship.

- Disrespectful attitude towards the jury.

- Lack of the compulsory safety equipment (ref. article 4) during a run.

- Absorption of performance enhancing products.

Each category shall be rewarded a score of 1-10 to make up and overall score of descent.

 

RELEASE OF LIABILITY

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING.
THIS IS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND WAIVER OF CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS.

1. I am at least 18 years old (hereinafter referred to collectively as "Competitor"). If the competitor is under 18 years of age at the time of the competition the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) must be presenting at the competition and assume sole responsibility for the Competitor at all times.

2. The Competitor warrants and represents that he/she is in good health and there are no special problems associated with the care of the Competitor and the undersigned parent or guardian (if applicable) has left no special instructions regarding the Competitor. The Event Management Team of the Verbier Ride reserves the right to refuse or retract entry if in their opinion the Competitor is unfit to compete due to ill health or injury.

3. Competitor accepts and understands that alpine skiing in its various forms is a HAZARDOUS sport that has many dangers and risks. It is further understood that training or racing competitively is more HAZARDOUS than recreational skiing. Competitor realizes that injuries are common and ordinary occurrence of this sport. Competitor agrees as a condition of being allowed to compete in a Ride Freesport event and use the ski area facility and premises, that Competitor freely accepts and voluntarily ASSUMES ALL RISKS OF PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH or for property damage which results in any way from negligence, conditions on or about the premises and facilities, the operation of the event including, but not limited to, grooming, snow making, ski lift operations, actions or omissions of employees or Board of Directors of the Verbier Ride or Competitor's participation in skiing, training, any competitive event, or other activities at the event.

Competitor agrees with the premise that Competitor is a competitor at all times, whether practicing for competition or in competition. Competitor agrees that he/she is always provided an opportunity to conduct a reasonable visual inspection of the training race course. Competitor understands that he/she will be held to assume the risk of all course conditions, course construction, or layout and obstacles.

W A R N I N G
A skier assumes the risk of any injury to person or property resulting from any of the inherent dangers and risks of skiing and may not recover from any Verbier Ride employee or Director for any injury resulting from any of the inherent dangers and risks of skiing including (but not exclusively): Changing weather conditions; existing and changing snow conditions; bare spots; rocks; stumps; trees; collisions with natural objects, man-made objects, or other skiers; variations in terrain; and the failure of skiers to ski within their own abilities.

4. Competitors hereby assumes all risks which may be associated with and/or result from his/her involvement in such Activity and releases and indemnifies the Verbier Ride, their subsidiaries and affiliates, their respective officers, directors, agents, servants, and employees, of and from any liability, claims, demands, actions and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage or injury, including death, that may be sustained by me while participating in the Activity, including, but not limited to, those injuries and damages caused by the negligence and or breach of warranty, express or implied, on the part of the Verbier Ride.

5. By execution of this release Verbier Ride shall be indemnified for any injury to other person(s) or property which Competitor may cause as a result of engaging in the Activity.

6. Competitor authorizes Verbier Ride and/or their authorized personnel to call for medical care for him/her or to transport him/her to a medical facility or hospital if, in the opinion of such personnel, medical attention is needed for him/her. Competitor agrees that upon his/her transport to any such medical facility or hospital that Verbier Ride shall not have any further responsibility for him/her. Further, Competitor agrees to pay all costs associated with such medical care and related transportation provided for him/her and shall indemnify and hold harmless Verbier Ride of and from any costs incurred therein.

7. COMPETITOR CONTRACTUALLY AGREES that any and ALL DISPUTES between himself/herself and Verbier Ride arising from his/her use of equipment and/or participation in the Activity OR use of this equipment, and INCLUDING and claims for personal injury and/or death, WILL BE GOVERNED BY THE LOCAL LAWS OF STATE and EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION thereof will be in the court residing in the county where the alleged tort occurred.

8. IN THE EVENT ANY SECTION OF THIS RELEASE IS FOUND TO BE UNENFORCEABLE, THE REMAINING TERMS SHALL BE FULLY ENFORCEABLE.

9. THIS RELEASE SHALL BE BINDING TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

10. This release shall be binding upon Competitor's assignees, subrogors, distributees, heirs, next of kin, executors, personal representatives, and administrators and may be pled by Verbier Ride as a complete bar and defence against any claim, demand, action or causes of action by or on behalf of the Competitor.
