Welcome to the Verbier Ride 08 website
The Verbier Ride 08 proved to be an awesome event. This year the competition was a qualifier for the 'Orage European Open for Swatch', and with a gathering of International male and female athletes at the La Chaux Snowpark, this upped the stakes, and encouraged a lively and exciting competition. The level was extremely high, and so were the tricks! With over 500 hours of TV airtime, the event is a major showcase for the athletes.
First Place Male went to local Alex Neurohr who was turning out tricks such as Switch 540 Under Flip, Switch 720 Shiftys’, Corked 540 Shiftys, 720’s and 540 Tail Grabs with such style, he was hard to beat. 1st Place female went to Belgium’s Katrien Aerts who was giving the guys a run for their money with a huge 360 Critical grab, 720’s and 540’s.
After an awesome day's riding it was clear that the Verbier Ride's Slopestyle continues to attract some of the best riders from across Europe and will be a major part of the event for years to come.
The Verbier Ride has world wise recognition and brings many of the world’s top riders to test Verbier’s terrain. With International Television broadcasts, it is hard to miss what is going on in the scene. Everyone agreed that the Verbier Snowpark gave some great kickers, and the spectacle offered up by the riders was nothing short of superb.
The Verbier Ride freestyle event is fast becoming a major stop on the freestyle skiing calendar. With further development from Ride Freesport and the Resort of Verbier, there is no reason why Verbier Ride and the La Chaux Snowpark can't give Europe a truly world class event in 2009.
